AB An analysis of two language versions - Czech and German - of the 1935 film Jana, with an emphasis on the analysis of the iconography, motifs and nationality of the films. Reception in Czechoslovakia and Germany, press coverage. Reasons for the emergence of multilingual versions of films in the 1930s. Differences and changes in the two versions: characters, setting, cast, music. The ways in which the political situation and national feeling influenced the promotion and reception of both films.
