AB Using the example of Jiřina Štěpničková's acting career in the years 1930-1945, the study attempts to provide a more thorough analysis of the conditions of Czech acting stars and their professional existence. The author points out the necessity of selecting appropriate terms (star image, star personality, star vehicle) and of interdisciplinary research that will link the theatre and film spheres within the theory of stars.
