PT - JOURNAL ARTICLE AU - Černík, Jan TI - "Technical Screenplay" and Sovietization of Czechoslovak Film Production, (1945-1954) DP - 2014 Dec 1 TA - Iluminace PG - 77--93 VI - 26 IP - 4 IS - 0862397X AB - In his study, the author examines how the Soviet norms of technical (or director's) scripts, which were introduced in a directive manner, influenced the practice of development and implementation of projects in Czech film after the Second World War. The study illustrates the possibilities of research based on the analysis of a broad sample of primary documents, i.e. scripts from the collections of the National Film Archive, which are set in an institutional and political context. The juxtaposition of these two perspectives allows the author to reveal the differences between directives and real practice, to explain why Soviet norms were not adopted passively, but instead with distance and after adaptation to established domestic practice, which was largely based on German models.
