AB The translated text by Italian film historian Andrea Meneghelli was written for the Iluminace magazine and expresses the author's reaction to the rapid expansion of digital cinema and the need to find a proper place in this emerging context. The author also highlights the positive effects of digitization on the availability of knowledge of the past. At the same time, he expresses doubts about the effectiveness and reliability of the digital record as a long-term preservation tool.
