AB Alena Šlingerová's text maps the creation, censorship vicissitudes, and contemporary reception of the documentary Unknown Soldier Speaks (1934), originally an American film called Forgotten Men, but in the Czechoslovak adaptation by J. A. Holman and Rudolf Medek, it was transformed from a drastic picture of war into a propaganda piece supporting national defense and the legionnaire tradition.
