What is a suffering body capable of? Melodramatic affect and The death of Maria Malibran
The study focuses on the theory of affect and uses the example of an experimental film by the German director Werner Schroeter, The Death of Maria Malibran, to clarify the general disjunctive features of affect and to suggest how they can be shaped in film.
