The opening chapter of a sociological study of the Hollywood film environment, the film industry and the Hollywood way of life. Discusses issues of values and practical life, as well as information on the personality profiles of producers, directors, writers and actors. The analysis is based on the evaluation of data from 12,000 questionnaires, processed over 3 years. The respondents were 4200 film workers, filmmakers and artists. The data cover the years 1937-1940.
